A Matter of Time: Derek Dooley Reportedly Out in Knoxville
It's hard to ignore every media source in East Tennessee plus the national media reporting that Coach Derek Dooley is fired from his position with the University of Tennessee program and that an announcement is forthcoming to that fact.
Following the Vols' 51-48 loss to SEC newcomer Missouri on Saturday, the current regime reached an all time low as Tennessee gave up a two touchdown lead to fall to the Tigers in quadruple overtime.
Derek Dooley is 15-20 in three seasons in Knoxville. The Vols are 4-18 against SEC competition. Three of those wins came in Dooley's first season (52-14 Ole Miss, 24-10 Vanderbilt, 24-14 Kentucky). Last season's only SEC win was a 27-21 victory over the Commodores in overtime in Neyland Stadium.
Rampant speculation continues in regard to the timing of the announcement and the sebsequent introduction of a new coach.
Sources have alleged that several former Tennessee assistants may be on their way back home to Rocky Top.
