In the writing world, there are no off weeks.  Which is too bad, because I pulled a Tennessee and struggled in my first real test of the season last week going 13-7 to fall to 48-12 for the year.  So while I could use the time to regroup, I'm letting it fly once again.

Thursday, September 22

North Carolina State (2-1) at Cincinnati (2-1) – NC State won this match-up last season in Raleigh, but Cincy’s offense has improved since then.  Bearcats 43-32

Friday, September 23

Central Florida (2-1) at BYU (1-2) – UCF beat Boston College in week 2 but lost at FIU last week.  BYU has lost two tough ones in a row, and is a point away from being 0-3. Knights 31-21

Saturday, September 24

San Diego State (3-0) at #22 Michigan (3-0) – Brady Hoke doesn’t have to wait long to meet his former school.  Let the story lines begin.  Wolverines 27-24

North Carolina (3-0) at #25 Georgia Tech (3-0) – GT is leading the nation in yards per game (620+) and points per game (59.3).  Jackets 39-28

Eastern Michigan (2-1) at Penn State (2-1) – How does Penn State always make this list when playing games like this?  Who’s in charge of this list?  If I find him… Lions 26-18

Notre Dame (1-2) at Pittsburgh (2-1) – The Irish surprised some people by winning big last week.  Let’s see which team shows up.  Panthers 29-25

Georgia (1-2) at Ole Miss (1-2) – Georgia is counting its blessings with its opposition from the SEC west this season.  Bulldogs 31-23

#14 Arkansas (3-0) at #3 Alabama (3-0) – It’s been awhile since the Hogs made some noise in this rivalry, and it will be at least a year before they make some more.  Tide 33-22

#7 Oklahoma State (3-0) at #8 Texas A&M (2-0) – This has all the makings of a future SEC vs. Pac-16 matchup.  Aggies 35-27

#11 Florida State (2-1) at #21 Clemson (3-0) – Oklahoma made FSU look mediocre last week, and the Noles haven’t won at Clemson since 2001.  Tigers 28-24

Colorado (1-2) at Ohio State (2-1) – The win totals for these two are diminishing as I type.  Buckeyes 27-20

Western Michigan (2-1) at #24 Illinois (3-0) – Congrats to Illinois for cracking the top 25 this week.  Enjoy your stay while it lasts.  Illini 30-21

Kansas State (2-0) at Miami (1-1) – Letdown game for the Hurricanes against a tough defense that pitched a shutout last week.  Wildcats 20-13

Vanderbilt (3-0) at #12 South Carolina (3-0) – If Vandy pulls this one off, go ahead and name James Franklin SEC Coach of the Year and make the Dores the favorite to reach the SEC title game.  But that’s a big if.  Gamecocks 34-28

#15 Florida (3-0) at Kentucky (2-1) – Just when you thought the Wildcats might end that streak against Florida, they go and lose to Louisville.  Or something like that.  Gators 27-14

#9 Nebraska (3-0) at Wyoming (3-0) – Nebraska likely to have another shootout on its hands.  Huskers 37-30

Missouri (2-1) at #1 Oklahoma (2-0) – Mizzou knocked off top-ranked OU a year ago, but I’m not feeling it this time.  Sooners 31-24

#2 LSU (3-0) at #16 West Virginia (3-0) – Kudos to LSU for playing two top-notch out of conference programs in a season. Make that, in a month.  Tigers 30-28

#10 Oregon (2-1) at Arizona (1-2) – The Wildcats have been underwhelming so far, and don’t have the defense they’ll need in this game.  Ducks 44-23

#23 USC (3-0) at Arizona State (2-1) – Tempted to pick an upset here, but the numbers point in the favor of the visitors on this one.  Trojans 30-24
